Lots to see and do
Visit Applecross
Drive over the world-famous Bealach-na-ba to the Applecross Inn (you must book); the nearby Walled Garden, then to the Sands Beach (near the Ministry of Defence submarine testing station). ‘The Bealach’ is particularly famous for being a brutal climb amongst cyclists. Dare you try it?
Eilean Donan is a small tidal island situated at the confluence of three sea lochs in the western Highlands of Scotland, about 1 kilometre from the village of Dornie. Within 30 minutes drive from Lochcarron can you experience one of Scotland's most iconic castles.
Plockton is a nearby fishing village with amazing seafood, a brilliant seal-watching tour, and a little island you can only walk to in low-tide. There is a lovely animal farm, and if you go along from Harbor Cottage (left once you hit the ‘main’ road), you’ll end up at Strome Castle, where you can just about see Plockton with binoculars.
These lush, well-kept gardens have phenomenal flora, fantastic fauna…and cheap coffee. If you turn right (rather than left into the gardens), and follow the road before going up the obvious path, you can recreate the annual Highland Games race!

"What a find! Visited Harbour Cottage with a few friends as we love the cycling in this area, great days out cycling and back to a roaring fire. Special highlight was cycling the bealach na ba and having lunch at the Applecross inn."

"Absolutely wonderful stay, even though the weather was not on our side. The room was immaculate, host was great and helped us so much with local information,
the location couldn't have been better. Will definitely stay here again."

"Our stay at the cottage in Lochcarron was lovely! The kids loved the beach and managed to catch a crab! The cottage was cozy despite how cold it was in the Highlands. We really appreciated the Rayburn!"
